I know, it's hard to tell what this is. But it's a fire engine!! Yup!! They visited our house this morning at 5:40AM. Our smoke detectors went off. ALL of them. As they are hardwire linked together. Thanking God that there was no fire!! What was the problem? Seems the detector itself has malfunctioned.
So as a few reminders:
- Replace your batteries every 6 months
- Use compressed air to clean the contacts and get rid of dust
- replace the individual unit every 10 years
You usually only hear about keeping the batteries fresh. Who would have thought about the others? That is unless you get a wake-up call like we did. And now guess what we "get" to do? Replace ALL of our smoke detectors and hardwire them back into the house. Yes, you heard a groan. But always better safe then sorry!

Glad there wasn't a fire!!! That was probably a huge scare!
I can't imagine waking up to that. How scary! I'm so glad it was a false alarm!
